Migrated FourOh77 To New Server

Well, it's been a while here. fouroh77 has been down for a while during my server migration - but is back up and running as of today.

I'm still working on moving the SVN repository to the new system, so bear with me on that. Stay tuned for updates, hopefully soon. It's a very busy year, and development has been slow and pretty low.

Introducing Four-Oh-7-7

To complete the M*A*S*H theme in the Blosxonomy-J project, today I officially renamed to project to Four-Oh-7-7.

With the name change, Four-Oh-7-7 brings with it a couple enhancements:

  • Matt checked in support for Delicious this afternoon. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet, but it propagates your delicious RSS feed into your HawkEye blog
  • I moved templates into the database, and implemented a simple template editing interface in Hotlips. This way, you can update your website's layout after post-deployment.

Still a couple major tasks on my todo list:

  • Move the configurations into the database, so that you can hot-deploy new blogs
  • Move the CSS into the database, to complete the template editing scheme already in place
  • Provide support for editing/deleting existing blog-posts.
  • Implement caching -- Hunnicut and Radar (the top level projects in Four-Oh-7-7) are cacheless-cows... which is fine for my personal sites for now, but not acceptable at all from any other stand point.
  • Implement a more robust provider interface around the Radar, Twitter, and Delicious story providers - to allow hot-deployment of new story providers. This will be the most fun... I've done this before in Java, and the code is pretty damn sweet.
  • Use the template's in the Hotlips interface to provide a cohesive look and feel to the system. Hotlips currently is based on the CSS used on my personal website, and is not nearly as dynamic as HawkEye.
Once I have those done, I'll have a great basis for testing towards a 1.0 release.

Not Your Mom's Blogging Software

Oh wait, it's so easy, it probably could be.
